Good News / Infomation!

Panadas are no longer considered endangered!

Due to the concern of Pandas going extinct in recent years, our favourite cuddly bears have been put in habitats where they are looked after, this caused the population to rise enough so that pandas and no longer endangered!

These mountain gorillas have been the victims of uncontrolled hunting, poaching, disease, and ravages of human contact for decades. Making them be in constant survival mode hanging on to life and keeping their species alive. Over the past few years, number has seen an increase although they are still at high risk of endangerment.

As co2 levels in the air rise, climate change becomes more and more of an issue. Due to climate change making the temperatures rise the ice in the arctic starts to melt. Polar bear's natural habitat is in the arctic, due to the changing habitat it’s becoming harder for polar bears to hunt for food leading as they rely on the ice to walk on to find an opening in the ice to hunt for meat in the ocean. but because the ice isn't freezing over near as much they can't walk on it to hunt therefore leading to starvation.

Illegal poaching. Poaching of Amur leopards for their fur and of their prey. A decrease in prey population can’t sustain the large population of all the predators in Russian and northeast china. Because of this the Amur leopards don't have as much prey to go around leaving some leopards left eith very little and sometimes nothing at all.

Axolotls were declared critically endangered in 2006. Due to habitat degradation and the pervasiveness of invasive fish in the lake. In 2009 experts say that the population decreased by 90% in the last four years. Axolotls were thought to be fully extinct in 2015 until they found one a few weeks later. Axolotls are only found in Lake Xochimilco in Mexico City. The lake is rich in nutrients from agricultural runoff feeding the plant life that ends up using all the oxygen and killing the endemic species. Invasive Asiatic carp and tilapia, introduced to the lake to create fisheries and alleviate food insecurity, have become the new top predators.
